For years Foster City had the “Art & Wine Festival.” It then became “City Fest”. The last City Fest was 2018. In 2019 it was canceled and the city put on an event called “Summer Days“. Today we have a special treat acquired from the San Mateo County Clerk & Assessors Office, San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division. This is the archived vote tab for Foster City’s Incorporation 50 years ago. We had a registration of 3,928 people in 1971, 2,519 people voted, a 64% turnout. The vote to incorporate passed at 92%. Back in 1981 Foster City hosted what was hoped to become an annual race. It was a half marathon from Hayward finishing on the Foster City Levee. Called “Charge of the Lite Brigade” it was one of very few times you could actually run across the San Mateo Bridge. Today, even the Amgen Tour of California doesn’t cross the San Mateo Bridge.
