The Foster City Incorporation Election

The Foster City Incorporation Election

Foster City is finishing up our 50th anniversary celebration. Today we have a special treat acquired from the San Mateo County Clerk & Assessors Office, San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division. This is the archived vote tab for Foster City’s Incorporation 50 years ago.

We had a registration of 3,928 people in 1971, 2,519 people voted, a 64% turnout. The vote to incorporate passed at 92%.

Two years later there was another election, a special election entitled PG&E Acquisition Question. We will be discussing that PGE event at our next meeting. It failed but in only two years Foster City went from a town of 3,928 people registered to a city of 7,469 people. A 90% increase in only two years.
