The great thing about producing content is that people begin to send us things! When Council Member Sam Hindi saw our FOSTER CITY & CHAMBER RETAIL SURVEY 1992/93 post he sent this 2013 survey over. The 2013 Retail Survey.

Some of the fun info in the survey is looking at every Retail Center in Foster city in 2013. Then go see if they are still around. Charter Square is gone and the report said “In the long-term, the center is not likely to be viable given its demonstrated inability to draw a branded everyday needs anchor, its outdated layout, and need for major renovation.”

Consider this from the report page 169 in 2013: “Payless ShoeSource may be opening as many as 60 new stores in 2011”… fast forward to 2019 only 6 years later  “Payless ShoeSource closing all 2,100 U.S. stores, starting liquidation sales Sunday”. Tyko, Kelly February 15, 2019 Money. USA Today
