Recently found in our archives a copy of a copy of a “form R/W-49” that was used when adding approximately 861 acres of land to Foster City. It was sold from Leslie Salt Company to Jack T. Foster.

Note the total deed was $10,468,225 which already included 1,739 acres. Today, Foster City The City encompasses 12,450 acres, of which 9,726 acres are part of San Francisco Bay and Belmont Slough, and 2,619 acres are reclaimed marshland. This equates to approximately 4 square miles of land area.

Foster City was once Vacant Grazing “hayland” and Salt Ponds. It was later filled. Of note Foster City’s LAND AREA is only 2,619 acres (4 sq mi) while the entire city stretches out into the SF Bay for almost 10,0000 acres.
